Home to the Ennead’s first monarchical regime, Ennea has become the de-facto capital of Athea.
When The Rule of Nine was signed roughly 400 miles to the west it was decided by those present that Athenia Shadoon, Lady of Ennea at the time, would lead them through the dark times that lie before them. Her ancestral home immediately become one of the most significant places within the newly birthed republic.
Nestled atop a series of rolling hills that are set almost directly in the center of some of the most lush lands for harvesting, Ennea is as awe inspiring as it is significant to any who visit. Evermore Castle sits at the city’s zenith overlooking the territory its inhabitants have long lorded over. The main road that leads in and out of the city and towards its center is lightly cobbled. It’s made up mostly of stone buildings, though some made of simple wood and thatched roofs are seen here and there. The majority are made of slabs believed to have originated in the north. Both Shadegulf and Norligh are often mined for such materials, even today.
The city is completely surrounded by 2 outer walls, in between them is a large bailey. In that bailey are shops, small inns, and plenty of open space, just incase the city is attacked the two walls give them time to recall their citizens inside the main walls and line their army up between the two. Further within, a series of elaborate gates and battlements line numerous winding paths meant to misdirect any who wish to assault the city. This system of defense came in handy early on as plots and schemes were well in motion in those early years.
