Once my newest book is published, I'm going to give it about a month, and if subscriptions don't increase, I'll probably move on. My wife has a nature therapy newsletter on here, and it is growing by leaps and bounds without her doing much of anything other than posting. Mine is not doing the same, and mine is free.
That’s pretty disheartening. That said, I want a hub aside from my own website where I can engage with the public. Considering how easy it is to use Substack I’ll likely stick around for the long haul.
I hear what you're saying. They're scary mainly because they are out of context. In my latest book, I've been working recently on tightening everything, to the point that my wrench is about to snap. :). I cut 7,000 words during my latest couple of revisions just by tightening (I tend to be a bit wordy at times). Your writing already feels very tight - in a good way.

Are you finding that there are not a whole lot of epic fantasy writers and readers on Substack? Or is it just me?
It’s not just you. Most of my audience here is from my previous list and my work on Kickstarter. Probably about 15% of my list is “from Substack.”
Still love archiving my work here and will continue to use it as my main “social media” platform.
The series looks great!
Thanks. It’s going to serve as the main point of entry into my saga for years to come.
This is really strong, clean, and colorful writing.
Thank you! These pieces-the ones where character is at the center with little to no action to save you-are always the scariest to share.
I appreciate the feedback!

I am naturally long-winded (I talk for a living AND I write epic fantasy...) so I’m VERY grateful to hear you say that.
I’m looking forward to diving deeper into my prose work as soon as I finish scripting the end to my current comic series.
